Course Descriptions for CBSI Spring 2025
Pre-Exilic Prophets (OTB 301) – 3 hours
A study of the Old Testament prophets, and their work, who lived during the Assyrian period, prior to the Babylonian exile of Judah. This includes those who wrote and those who did not. The nature and ministry of the Old Testament prophet, the character of Bible prophecy and the major themes of their books are emphasized.
Pauline Epistles I (NTB 202) & Pauline Epistles II (NTB 301) – 3 hours each
This course is designed to familiarize the student with the content, nature, and purposes of the Apostle Paul’s epistles. In the first semester the books of Romans through Philippians will be studied. The second semester will involve a complete study of Colossians through Philemon. The course is an analytical overview of the Pauline epistles.
Christology, Pneumatology and Angelology (THE 202) – 3 hours
1) Christology: a study of the Person of Christ as revealed in Messianic prophecy, the incarnation, and His ministry as prophet, priest and king, 2) Pneumatology: a study of the Person of the Holy Spirit, His attributes, names,Symbols, and relations to creation, Christ, the Scriptures, the world, the church,and the believer, 3) Angelology: study of angels, demons, and Satan.
Anthropology, Hamartiology and Soteriology (THE 301) – 3 hours
1) Hamartiology: intensive study of the doctrine of sin, 2) Soteriology:study of the doctrine of salvation, involving a careful analysis of Justification, Redemption, Conversion, Repentance, Law and Grace, etc and 3) The doctrine of man, his creation, purpose, fall and make-up are taught.
Christian Leadership (PTE 401) – 2 hours
A study of the basic elements of successful leadership. Exposure is given to the principles of biblical leadership as it pertains to all aspects of the Christian life, the home, the job, the church, your community and others.
General Psychology (PSY 301) – 3 hours
The course will show the basic principles relating to scientific psychology and man’s relation to his environment. Emphasis is placed on biblical concepts.
